Welcome to my blog, That’s Just The Way It Is. Why on earth, have I chosen that name? I’m an editor, not a writer. Give me a break. I don’t caption or subtitle–at least not well. I tell you when you put your comma where your semicolon should be, and when you should have used an em dash instead of a full stop. Hey, it’s gripping stuff.
And so I’m blogging about it. What’s more gripping is what I edit. Science fiction novels? Bah! Romance? Bleck. I hold out for the good stuff. Give me an insurance manual to pour over. Beam over that white paper on coal mining in Japan (or was it China?). Let me rewrite your grammar textbook (I’m salavating now)–or that news piece on blood diamonds.
Fiction, my friends, is too grey of an area. And I, for one, prefer things black and white.
